Reformation Day

I don't know about you but I am getting in the Reformation Day spirit ! I even bought a CD of Hymns today because it has A Mighty Fortress Is Our God on it. That really has been getting me in the Reformation Day Mood! Anyway in the Reformation Day spirit I want to share my new favorite hymn with you. Also please note there is a poll on the right where you vote on if you believe it is right or wrong for Christians to celebrate Halloween ( I got the idea for the poll from brother J. Wendall the Earnest Contender). If you still want to join in that debate scroll a few posts down. Anyway Happy Reformation Day!

A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing;
Our helper He, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing:
For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe;
His craft and power are great, and, armed with cruel hate,On earth is not his equal.
Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing;
Were not the right Man on our side, the Man of God’s own choosing:
Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He;
Lord Sabaoth, His Name, from age to age the same,And He must win the battle.

And though this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph through us:
The Prince of Darkness grim, we tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure, for lo, his doom is sure,One little word shall fell him.

That word above all earthly powers, no thanks to them, abideth;
The Spirit and the gifts are ours through Him Who with us sideth:
Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also;
The body they may kill: God’s truth abideth still,His kingdom is forever.

I am writng a quick post to direct attention to a great debate that going on: Dave Mullins vs. Jason Millich. Under the comments of my post on Reformation Day. I am thorougly enjoying watching the debate because I am very good freind with both Dave and Jason. The Debate is on whether Christians should celebrate Halloween it also gets into the right and wrong ways to evangelize. Check it out and join in the fun! It technically starts with th 7th comment by Jason then response by Dave then Jason then Dave etc.. Its pretty interesting join in! and give your thoughts! Click Here
P.S. One of my all time favorite Jason Millich quotes is "Its ok to use circular reasoning because everyone does it!"

thats not related to the debate and I am not picking on Jason I put it up there because its funny.

Two New Bloggers are Born!

Everybody knows how there is rejoicing in heav... I mean the Blogosphere when a new blogger is born. Especially after they are converted out of Xangaism and are ready to join the serious, deep, and spiritual conversations of the blogspot.

Anyway I
want to introduce you two new brothers in the Blogosphere.
This is Pastor Jason Milich of
Tusculum Baptist Church in Greenville Tennessee. Jason is a graduate of Cedarville Univesity. Jason is a dear brother in Christ and one of my best freinds. We met when we ministered together at Skyview Baptist Ranch . Then we grew in our freindship as we cominstered there for three summers. His blog is: Jason The Late and The Great. (He is not writting from the grave, just dead to sin just incase the name confused anybody else. That explains the late part... the great part is because he is humble.)

The next newly born blogger I want to introduce you to is Ryan Simmons. He is a new freind I met on the missionary trip I took during my fall break to minister to the
unreached people groups of Cedarville University. He wants to go into Christian publishing. He is also a cohost of a radio show at Cedarville (more info on that can be found here) His new blog is called the Jumbled Rumblings.

Anyway keep your eye on these two new bloggers. May they be fruitful in their blogging.

Reformation Day

Reformation day is Coming! It is October 31 and celebrates the day Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses on the door of Wittenberg igniting the Prostestant Reformation and the recovery of the Biblical Gospel. This a day every Christian should be thankful for.

Since Reformation day is approuching I am thinking about how to celebrate it. A few of my freinds of the Seminary are talking about dressing up as Martin Lurther. I am think a reinactment of posting the 95 theses may be fun. But my seminary buddies tell I might get in trouble if I look for the largest Catholic church in Louisville and try that. So I may use my neighbor's door instead. Although in reality I think I will order pizza and get a bunch of people together and watch Luther the movie and express my thanksgiving to God for men like Luther and thank God for the Reformers and for the doctrines the stood on: Scripture alone, Christ alone, Grace alone,Faith alone, For the glory of God alone. May we thank God in that he always preserves a remnant and for how he used Martin Luther and the other Reformers to recover the beuatiful Biblical Gospel from being obscured by tradion and dogma. Let us not forget how we are deeply indebted to those who came before us on who's shoulders and blessings we stand.

I want to invite you to leave comments on ideas on how to celebrate Reformation Day or how you have previously celebrated Reformation Day.
