Calvinism and Arminianism....

First off I need to admit this post is a shameful act of plagiarism from my freind Chris's blog. But I had to because I knew my Calvinistic readers would get a kick out of this shirt. I am tempted to buy it. You can here btw :
Just to correct a little bit of theology a shirt can not choose anyone even if it is a Calvinist one but God can and does.

Speaking of Calvinsism the discussion on my Calvinistic post on whether Jesus was Seeker Sensitive is still going strong. So scroll down read it and comment on it. Oh yeah and I finally join in the discusion as well and ask a few more questions check it out.

And since this seems to the best of Calvinism post here is a link to previous post that lets you know if you are too Reformed read it and see if you are:
You may be too reformed if...

Not too sure if I like this shirt, Johnny Bronco. It appears to be making fun of Calvinism. When it comes to clothes, of course I choose them (or do i?).

yeah..It is making fun of Calvinism and isnot really theologically correct like I noted. Its just novelty shirt.

I like how you asked or do I? Another question to consider since we seem to be on Calvinistic theme. Can I be Calvinist and have free will?

Actually though Freewill is not a Calvinist problem only. If you believe in an omniscient God then you have free will problems. For example if God knows what I will do in the future its already set because if was not how could God know?
Actually, you don't even have to be theist to have a free will problem. If every action you do is dependent on the action that happened before it how do have free will. You are really just watching the dominoes fall...
Anyway all this to say that free will is not a Calvinist problem. Its really a problem for everyone.

I just want to add to my previous comments. In case anyone is wondering. I do believe in freewill even though it is a philosophical problem for everyone not just the Christian. I both beleive in free and also that nothing happens out outside of God plan because both are in the Bible. Heres an example:
See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil. (Deut 30:15)God offered Israel a choice to love him and obey and choose life or penalty of death for not choosing. God obviously gave a choice. Meaning we can have some kind a free will. Or how else could God give a choice. (although I am well aware noone one will every choose God unless God intervenes because the unregenerate man will always choose himself)

Consider another scripture:
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Eph 2:10
Things before we were even born were already planned for us to do!Thats awesome and mind blowing!
And here is verse which is just example how God views he says will happen or not..
I the LORD have spoken it: it shall come to pass, and I will do it;(Ezekial 24:14) What the Lord says wiil happen will happen all this to say there is free will and God does have a plan that is set and noone can change. THis is why I both beilieve in free will and God's complete soviengty! Knowing both is true just leaves me in awe of the greatness and biggness of my God.

We having this same discussion over at Mullins Musings. COme on ever a join us, John. Any anyone else. I just made the same assertion that you did (and Calvin did years ago - we're in good company). Namely, YES, we do have free will. We can choose whatever we want. But lost man will ALWAYS choose rebellion. That is the only choice a totally depraved human has. We are utter unable to reach out to God until we have a new mind, which is given at regeneration. Come join the fun!
